Lotto Max gives you nine ways to win in each draw, including the multimillion-dollar jackpot for matching all seven main numbers drawn. The top prize can even reach $90 million.
The minimum Lotto Max jackpot is $10 million, and this jackpot will be carried over to the next draw if it is not won. That is how the jackpot can run into the tens of millions, and if it is not won before it reaches $50 million, the additional Max Millions game will come into play, giving players even more chances of winning.
The table below shows all the different ways to win and the odds for each category. You can also see the prize values for each one – the average amount, highest, lowest and the payout for the most recent draw.
The table shows the odds of winning for the minimum $6 ticket, which includes four lines of numbers.

The overall odds of winning a Lotto Max prize are 1 in 5.8 in every standard draw.
The $20 prizes and the Free Play are fixed so they will be the same in every draw. For the other prizes, there are two separate funds. A Draw Fund uses $1.69 from every Lotto Max play. This is used to pay the jackpot, MaxMillions and MaxPlus prizes. The Pools Fund is allocated $1.19 from every Lotto Max play and is used to pay the remaining prizes.
The percentage of the prize fund given to each of the other categories is as follows - Match 6 + Bonus gets 18.50%, Match 6 gets 18.85% , Match 5 + Bonus gets 12.25%, Match 5 gets 27.50%, Match 4 + Bonus gets 22.90%.
The jackpot can only get up to a limit of $90 million. It cannot grow any higher, so it will stay at this value until at least one ticket matches all the numbers. Additional funds will be used to offer even more Max Millions draws.
Max Millions prizes are always worth exactly $1 million. The odds of winning each one are 1 in 33,446,140, the same as the Lotto Max jackpot, as you are required to match all seven numbers from a pool of 52 and do not win other prizes for matching fewer numbers. Visit the Max Millions page to learn more about these special draws and how they work.
MaxPlus prizes are usually worth $100,000, but the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) has the right to increase this amount in advance of a specific draw. The odds of winning each MaxPlus prize are 1 in 33,446,140 as you must match all seven numbers. The more prizes up for grabs, the greater your chances of winning one of them. Head over to the MaxPlus section for more information.
You must match at least three of the main numbers to win a prize. For three main numbers, you get a Free Play, consisting of three Quick Pick selections. The prizes increase in value as you match more numbers. You need to match all seven main numbers to win the jackpot.
You do not win a prize for matching one or two numbers on Lotto Max. Even if you match two main numbers plus the Bonus Ball, there is no prize. You must match at least three of the main seven.
Lotto Max prizes work on a pari-mutuel basis, so they vary from draw to draw depending on how many tickets are sold and how many winners there are in each tier.
The Lotto Max record is $80 million. The jackpot reached this amount for the first time on September 17, 2024. Two ticket holders – one from Ontario and one from Quebec – split the money..
