Canada's Lotto Max will be getting a facelift in 2026 - a host of changes are set to be implemented on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. This page explains what exactly the update will involve.
The Lotto Max number pool will be increasing from 50 to 52, but each ticket will now include four lines instead of three. This has an interesting effect on the game's odds.
The two new numbers will slightly reduce the prize odds for each individual line, but the extra line gives players an additional chance to win. This results in better overall odds of winning a prize per play, despite the steeper odds per line.
You can compare the current and incoming odds using the table below.

A new side-game will be introduced, MAXPLUS. For every $1 million in the jackpot, a line of seven numbers will be drawn from a pool of 1 to 52. For example, a jackpot of $47,500,000 would result in 47 lines of MAXPLUS numbers being drawn.
If a player's numbers match all seven numbers of a single MAXPLUS line, they'll win a minimum $100,000 prize - the lottery operator can increase the prize value at their discretion as long as it's announced before the draw. If multiple players match the same MAXPLUS numbers, the prize is shared evenly between the winning tickets.
The odds of matching all seven MAXPLUS numbers on any given line are the same as hitting the jackpot in the main draw: 1 in 133,748,560. Remember though, the number of MAXPLUS draws depends on the value of the jackpot - with the minimum jackpot of $10 million, you'll always get 10+ sets of winning numbers to match, and four chances at matching them on each ticket.
The jackpot cap will be increasing from $80 million to $90 million, as larger jackpots tend to draw more attention from lottery fans, improving sales.
In order to fund the planned changes, the cost of a Lotto Max ticket will be increasing from $5 to $6.
